Corrections and Updates

When a statement needs to change, we update the guidance and explain the material correction here.

Public editorial queue

Report a content correction

Use the structured GitHub form to identify the page, exact statement, primary evidence, edition or jurisdiction, and any relationship to the subject. GitHub assigns a public issue number and keeps the review record visible.

Do not post private or urgent information

The correction queue is public. Do not include an address, phone number, health history, credentials, private project documents, or photographs with identifying details. It is not an emergency, medical, code-approval, or project-support channel.

If supporting evidence contains private, rights-sensitive, or identifying information, email [email protected] instead of placing it in the public queue. Remove information that is not necessary to evaluate the claim.

September 16, 2026 · Amazon Associates activation

  • Selected, exact-product Amazon links now use the Spray Foam Guides Associates tracking ID. A visible commission disclosure appears before each affected product set instead of adding a label to every store button.
  • The required Amazon Associate statement appears in each affected section and in the site footer. The disclosures, privacy, about, and editorial-policy pages record the same active status.
  • Walmart links remain ordinary store links without this publication’s affiliate identifier. Commission does not determine inclusion, order, score, or wording.

September 15, 2026 · U.S. Spanish editorial review

  • We completed a full U.S. Spanish editorial pass across all 70 guides, tools, interface copy, glossary entries, product context, and source-scope descriptions.
  • The pass standardized direct-reader voice and U.S. jobsite terminology, including bilingual first-use forms where an English label, bid, safety document, or field conversation commonly uses the English term.
  • This was a language and consistency review. It does not constitute independent technical review or change the review status shown on any guide.

September 14, 2026 · Tool records, content clarity, and language access

  • Project records now distinguish separate jobs, retain surface inputs and bid notes, and keep planning limits in printable outputs.
  • Safety prerequisites precede removal and test application in the affected foam comparisons. Below-slab checks follow the approved project detail rather than implying a universal layer sequence.
  • Source-check dates, content editions, and editorial changes are separate records. Independent specialist review remains pending where no named specialist has completed it.
  • Selected product examples identify the exact package and link directly to checked store listings. Common ownership and the then-current non-affiliate status were disclosed beside the links.
  • Spanish pages use separate addresses and identify their source edition. Translations do not create an additional technical approval.

September 10, 2026 · Reference edition

  • Review status: source checking and independent specialist review are now separate fields. Every guide shows both states in its first-screen review strip.
  • Reference guides: seventeen guides and the board-foot tool now have a named decision worksheet, dated version record, and checks for clear answers, relevant primary sources, and substantive coverage.
  • High-consequence depth: combustion, service compatibility, hybrid assemblies, below-slab work, SPF roofing, and pools/spas now include a worked acceptance record or decision map with exact-system limits.
  • Commercial boundaries: high-risk, safety, and problem guides carry no Best Spray Foam bridge; eligible guides allow no more than one disclosed handoff.
  • Tools and search: multi-surface takeoff, three-bid comparison, Project Binder, focused search ranking, content-type labels, and mobile reading navigation were added.

September 6, 2026 · Launch review

  • Unexpected softness versus normal flexibility: the soft or sticky foam guide now explicitly distinguishes the normal flexibility of some open-cell foam from persistent tackiness, oiliness, or an unexpected condition. Appearance and touch alone cannot establish cure or mixing ratio.
  • Quantity assumptions: the board-foot calculator makes raw material volume the primary result. Optional scenario allowance begins at 0%; it is not a measured loss rate or product-yield guarantee.
  • Related-publication links: exact-product cards and mirrored ranking positions were removed. Relevant guides now use a disclosed editorial link to our sister publication, Best Spray Foam.
  • Sources and review status: source records were expanded and checked on September 5. Technical guides clearly distinguish editorial source checking from independent technical review, which remains pending.

What makes a useful correction record

Keep the page URL, exact statement, supporting source, document date, and why that evidence applies. For a product claim, include the exact formulation and document version; for a code question, include the jurisdiction and adopted edition. State any relationship to the product or subject.

Triage targets

Safety, fire, exposure, or potentially harmful guidance is targeted for triage within 2 business days; a material technical error within 5 business days; and editorial clarity, source availability, or typo reports within 10 business days. Triage confirms scope and priority. It does not promise that an investigation or specialist review will be complete within that period.

Urgent publication response

When credible evidence suggests that a high-risk statement could cause harm, the publication owner can add a prominent temporary notice, remove the affected instruction, or place the page outside search while the evidence is checked. The issue record should identify the action, time, responsible editor, verification owner, and restoration conditions. This publication response does not provide emergency, medical, or project support.

Review process

We compare the specific claim with the relevant primary evidence. Safety and code concerns receive priority. A material correction updates the page, its modification date, relevant source records, and this log. A correction request cannot replace immediate medical help, manufacturer instructions, or an on-site assessment.
