Exterior wall planning

Start with the wall, not the foam

Map the layers, drainage and open cavities before selecting any foam.

Resolve water entry first

Repair bulk-water paths and flashing defects before insulating. Foam should not conceal an active leak or replace exterior drainage.

Draw all four control layers

Trace water, air, vapor, and thermal control across the whole wall. Show how each layer continues at windows, floors, and the roof.

Map services before spraying

Locate wiring, plumbing, boxes, penetrations, and future access. Decide what must remain visible, serviceable, or protected.

Match the system to the assembly

Compare the exact product documents with the substrate, lift limits, temperature range, target thickness, and intended control-layer role.

Plan fire protection and access

Confirm required thermal or ignition protection, local amendments, inspection sequence, and any areas that cannot be concealed yet.

Record conditions and installed work

Keep product identity, lot, temperatures, substrate condition, area, thickness checks, photos, and any corrected defects.

Approve the complete wall system

Proceed only when water control, continuity, services, product instructions, protection, and inspection all agree.
